The Kindness
Boomerang
If any video has garnered more than 12 million views on
YouTube, chances are that it’s worth watching. And this Kindness Boomerang video
certainly is worth watching. In fact, the concept espoused in this video – positivity
begets positivity – is at the heart of our Positivity Weekly newsletter.
Muslims celebrate
Ugadi at Kadapa temple
For the past 300 years, countless Muslims have offered Ugadi
(New year) prayers at the Hindu temple of Lord Venkateswara in Kadapa (Andhra
Pradesh). An interesting legend is behind this phenomenon. But what’s truly
heartening is that rigid divisions melt away in the right contexts. This two-year-old
Times
of India article makes for happy reading..
Life becomes worth
living with a hug
In 1995, Brielle and Kyrie Jackson were born 12 weeks
premature. And to concisely tell what happened
next, let us read a paragraph from this Telegram
article:
“One baby was not expected to live,” reads the narrative. “A
hospital nurse fought to put them in the same incubator. The stronger baby
wrapped her arm around her sister, and her touch allowed the struggling baby's
heart to stabilize and her temperature to return to normal.”
The picture of the infants in a hug is worth, not a
thousand, but a million words. The twins are 19 years old now and seem just as
connected.
If you’d rather watch something than read an article, here’s
a link to a video.
Born with wings
Apparently human beings are born with metaphorical wings. And
if they aren’t clipped, they soar far and high. Last week, we covered a story
on Malala Yousafzai. This time, let us show you a TED
talk delivered by her father Ziauddin Yousafzai.
Like daughter, like father?
From my personal diary
Today, FAiTH, the organization I co-founded to combat Child
Sex Abuse, conducted its first workshop for special children. Today’s audience
consisted of 5 autistic children studying in Sense Kaleidoscope.
From the very outset, it became clear that this would be the
biggest challenge till date. These children, although gifted in their own ways,
think in unpredictable ways. So we had to brainstorm the content of our
workshop and consult the best of experts to ensure that nothing said would be
misinterpreted.
On top of that, we had to innovate and find ways to engage
our special audience. So we combined strong visuals with enthusiastic enactment
of every thought.
The journey of educating these children on this important
topic has begun. We will implement more workshops to ensure that the message has
sunk in.
Right now, those of us who were fortunate to have participated
in this workshop feel light and so supremely positive. We returned to our homes
humbled and thoughtful. A new sense of purpose has permeated our beings.
Wonder who taught whom today.
In conclusion
So until next time, may we request you to smile more than
you frown? Take care.
